Chimes used to confuse owls?
Hi everyone,
Does any one know if setting up wind chimes around martin houses helps to confuse and deter owls. I read a couple of past postings that seem to support that. Thoughts any one?

Re: Trendsetter 8 compartment owl guard
Thanks Dave. This gives me some idea of how to approach this. Where would I buy goat fencing? Is it the same as cattle panel? The cattle panels are heavy.

Re: Trendsetter 8 compartment owl guard
Hey Dave, can you send me a picture? I might not be able to get it on top of the pole but perhaps design it in such a way as to have it meet my needs. I haven't had an owl attack yet but last year I saw one investigate the house right at sunset. I went out a d chased it away. Thanks, Brent

Re: Trendsetter 12 Housing, pole square or round
I have 2 Trendsetter 8 houses and both have 3 inch square poles. So the 3 inch square is available. I bought mine with PMCA.

Re: Conley II Entrances
I have 2 Trendsetter 8 houses both have SREH entrances and have wing entrapment guards but I've had birds get wing trapped. Could I attach the Conley ll entrances to the outside of the current SREH entrances?

Sevin dust.
Hi everyone, Getting ready to apply my first sevin dust soon. Can someone review how much to apply and how often? Last year I put some at the end of February under the pre nest material and then again when I saw nest building. I used about 1/8 teaspoon around the periphery of the nest tray. I had no...

Me too. I still have my lone ASY male. Leaves by the clock and returns about the same time every day. I think this week will bring more house guests. Hoping anyway.

Whippy aka Coolwhips,
He seems to be doing fine. Temps in the am will be in 30's so I put hand warmer like you suggested. He might never leave. Already enjoying the season.
Love these birds.

Re: First Arrival
Oh no. So sorry to hear that. My very early arrival seems to be doing fine. He leaves about the same time every day and I look for him to return at about 4:30. It worries me that he is here so early. Can't wait for the others to arrive so he'll have company.

Re: How resilient are martins?
Hi everyone,
Well this little fella is resilient. He left the house at about 8 this morning and returned at about 5. He seemed happy and strong. I bet he can't wait for his friends to arrive.
Brent
Ps...so far I haven't seen other arrivals. Soon I'm sure.

How resilient are martins?
Hi everyone, My 1st martin arrived 1-5 here in south Louisiana. The weather was nice with highs in mid 60's. But by the 8th the weather got colder. Today the high will be in the upper 40's and low 50's. That's cold by southern standards. This makes me concerned about the lone ASY male. Should I be? ...

It's cold out. I was worried about the little fella but today about 4 pm I saw him wiggle his way into compartment #2. I know he's safe. Brave Heart! No other sightings, yet.

I use cable ties on my winch system. Not as secure as a pad lock but provides some security especially from mischievous youngsters.

First arrival in Raceland, Louisiana!!!!
Hi every one, This morning (1-5-21, Tuesday) at 9:41 I saw my first arrival. I know he is mine because I didn't have the houses up and he was looking for them. He perched on perch B and then sang a little then flew around as if he was telling me to lift the house. I was so excited. I quickly got 2 n...
