Mr. Miller (Grin), Well said 8) and we do have open pathways to the sky....I think I miscommunicated (I am a foreinger...lol) in regards to the open fly away. Every one of our systems is pointing towards the water and several gourds face the water. But the first arriving martins will always choose t...

We have an "encore" this morning....I just went out with the puppy Emma and watched our resident martins. We are now up to 10 pairs when another flock of migrating martins came in. They will socialize with our martins for about 30 to 45 minutes and then leave for their homes 8) 8) 8) 8) They will al...

I hate to burst many bubbles but we do not worry too much about the fly away part because the happiest martins we have are the ones closest to our house with the least fly away ....I never understood but it is ok with us because it gives us a better chance to make sure there are no sparrows or other...

Tim, I am sorry you had to move; it seems like everyone has to make some changes now a days with the way the economy is....BUT on the bright side do not worry too much about fly away and all that. The happiest martins we have are the ones closest to your house with the least fly away ....I never und...

Tim, I agree, it would be interesting to know how many martins stop at the same place each season remembering there is food to find. If that is the case they sure know they are always welcome here..... I was also a little bit amazed last night when the other martins took off instead of staying...

My martins are cold :-( It is only 47 this morning, rainy and windy.....ugh.
