Thanks for the hands on advice it's good to know that if and when I do attract some purple martins that this is something to watch for, I would have never thought they would get tangled up in a 2 1/4 inch hole but I will be looking forward to seeing the martins this coming spring.

That's what I thought just elevate the nest area so if you get long rainy days or hard driving rains the water will stay lower and the insulation is a great way to keep things light, this is a great forum with a wealth of information thanks a lot

I made my rooms 6 inches x 6 inches and 6 high I found out after I made it that they like the rooms even bigger but to late now, so I have no other alternative but to try it thanks every one for the advice.
