Laverne,
I had 14 pairs and there are 3 babies left. There were 10 that did not make it.
Here is last years (2010) PM roost at Willowbrook mall on 249 and 1960 in Houston.

Six caught

Today I came home to see six young sparrows in the PMCA trap that is incorporated into my 24"x24"36" decoy cage. I think the scape proofing worked. The most I have seen in the past is eight young sparrows. I placed all six in a small decoy cage and sit it on top of the small Brad Biddle trap I made ...

I use the cheap bird seed mix from Wally World. I also use this to fill
my feeders with.

Trap and trap and trap all of them.

29MAR2011 Katcola, I used to have a problem like yours. I am also limited as to where I can point my air rifle and shoot. I started out with two PMCA repeating baited traps. One installed in a cage holding 4 live sparrows. Then I built an NBT tipping can style. All traps work very well. Today I have...

TexasBeBe, I have 14 to 15 adult pairs and no sign of sub-adults either. This year a rearrange my old 12 room setup from two poles to one. I made 12 new rooms and mounted them onto the other pole. To top this off I moved both poles. The old rooms were filled first and there are some takers on the ne...

I made mine from a design on Chuck Abare's page.

and got to the "do it yourself" section on the left hand side of the page.
There, you will find:

Fantastic

M,
I am surrounded by gas stations, conveient stores, grocery store and
fast food places. I have and will have S&S problem. That is why I have
a total of 7 repeating traps and they are monitored.

That is fantastic that they would use your trap house as their nesting site.

Flyin-Lowe, You're correct, it is not from my colony. I also think that you're correct that PMs may tolerate more intrusion than we think. It has plenty of company. I think the the old 12 rooms are filled up and there are three pairs spending the night in the new 12 rooms. I think it has to do with ...

I saw the pair return to the room where I captured the banded female
this evening. This is very good that it did not bother the pair after what I
did this morning.

I do not know

Flyin-Lowe
It flew straight to the house I captured it from. After that your guess is as
good as mine. I think it will stay and continue what it is suppose to do.

Keith,
It went as planned this time, thank goodness.

Happy ending

Thank you Strech. Tony, I have taken down a couple of male sparrows hanging around the PM housing. I have not seen any sparrows at my backyard since. The Brad Biddle Traps have not caught a single sparrow. I am waiting till it gets a little warmer or when the sparrows fledge their young. In a way it is good for the P...

Males First

I always take the male first and then the female when it returns. If I wait long enough 90% of the time
it will come back.

If the pair has selected a room already, I would wait till one of them is in the room and then take out the
one that is still outside then wait for the other one to come out.

GoblerT, Ten years ago I did not have the 24 inch pan break I have today. This tool made sharper and more precise bends compared to the two pieces of flat aluminum, clamps and hammer I use ten years ago. I used a 24 inch paper cutter (guillotine) to cut the aluminum material. I used rivets to put th...

Thanks

Guys, thank you. After ten years of tinkering with my PM housing, I finally realized the original design I drawn ten years ago. I first put six rooms on each pole and tinker with them some more. This year I decided to make 12 more rooms and they are up as well. If the PMs get used to my new 12 rooms...

Tim, Capturing the female PM is not a big deal at all. Removing the plastic could be a job for the pros. With that in mind, I will just leave this female alone. It does not look like it is bothered by the band and I do not think the band is hurting the PM. The upside on this, I can see next year if ...

Tim,
Pictures have not been touched. The second photo is zoomed in from the
original photo and screen captured.

Would it be a good idea to remove the band?
