Dave;
I'm sure Mulie will do a fine job of filling the void left by Majors loss.
Though we can never replace a lost pet, caring for another one can certainly ease the pain, I hope that is the case for you.
Best of luck.
Hanover Bill.

Good Idea - An Ark
The ark sounds like a good idea, especially if you live in Western Pa. or nearby. This is definitely one of the worse springs I can remember, and I can remember quite a few of them. Our forecast is for more rain every day except Thursday. I have not even been able to till my garden to plant early cr...

Hopefully They're Headed North
Hopefully those Martins are gathering for the jouney north. We sure could use some of them up in these parts. The weather up here has been awful this spring, so I'm hoping they are just going to be late arriving. This is my third year trying to establish a colony so I'm looking for any good news I c...

Sorry For Your Loss
Dave; So sorry for the loss of your faithful companion. I can appreciate how you feel, having gone through it many times myself. Our pets are part of our family, they give us unconditional love and ask nothing in return. We always say never again when we lose one, because we don't want to go through...

Great Pictures
Hi Bob; Great pictures, as usual Bob. I need to see those once in a while to prove to me that there actually are Purple Martins in Western Pa. With this weather we are having I imagine some of those Martins are wishing they had stayed in Brazil another month or two. Great job with your supplemental ...

Tree Swallow Nest Check Question
Is it ok to do nest checks on Tree Swallow and Bluebird nests or will this discourage them and cause them to abandon the nest.
I'm sure this question has been answered many times on here but I just don't recall it.
Thanks;
Hanover Bill.

Good Luck Bill
I know how you feel Bill. This is an exciting time for we would be landlords, just as it is for the established ones. Hope springs eternal that this will finally be the year for us. All we can do is provide and maintain our housing, and hope that the successes of our fellow Western Pa. landlords las...

Send Em North
Hi John; Sounds like some good news for we northern landlords waiting to establish a colony. Hopefully some of those new SY arrivals are headed up this way. We have had an ugly spring up here, but nothing to compare with some of the horrific weather in the South. I'm hoping that some warmer, calmer ...

Good News
Hi Doug; Glad to hear of your success with the supplemental feeding, I'm sure it is a great feeling watching them accept the help. You're right about our weather, we go from one thing to the next, cold, to wet, to extremely windy. Still feel lucky when we see what is happening in other parts of the ...

Hang an Old Shoe
Bill; I am surprised that you have been unable to attract Martins. The old saying I have heard up here goes, if you live in the South you can just hang up an old shoe and you will get Martins. Obviously that isn't true. I am also entering my third year of trying in Western Pa. There are no colonies ...

Good News
Doug; Keep those good reports coming out of Western Pa. Glad to hear they are returning to your site. Finally the weather is cooperating a little, so maybe we will see some increased activity in our area. I have lots of Tree Swallow activity, and even that was missing during the recent bad weather. ...

Continuous Loop Dawn Song
Is there anywhere I can buy a continuous loop recording of the Dawn Song, or do I need to buy a continuous loop tape and record it myself. I have the regular cassette recording I purchased from the PMCA, but I would like to play the recording for a longer period of time without having to go out and ...

Good News
Doug; Glad to hear your good news. Hopefully this warmer weather will increase the activity in our part of the state. Even my Tree Swallows are very late this year, just showed up in the last few days. Now if I can just get some off course Martins to fly over my housing I'll be in business. Continue...

HOSP - Prolific Nest Builders
I always keep a very close eye on my Martin housing and Bluebird boxes, to keep the Sparrows out. I have noticed very little activity so far this spring, and with the weather being so bad I haven't spent as much time in my yard as usual for this time of year. Well, yesterday I thought I better check...

Toyin; Glad to hear the good news, sounds like things are looking up for you. We are having a lousy spring over here in the westertn part of the state. Good Landlord
Hi Bill; We won't call you crazy, just a good landlord Bill. This has been a terrible spring in these parts. Just can't seem to warm up and dry out a little. My housing was up early as I told you before, but with this weather I probably have a while to wait until I, hopefully, see some action. I adm...

Ugly Spring
Doug; That's not the report I wanted to hear from you. Especially since I am relying on some of your offspring and some of your former lake colony Martins to start my colony. This has been a terrible spring so far. I have only seen one Tree Swallow so far and a Bluebird or two. I put my housing up e...
