Several recent mornings I have looked out my kitchen window to see one or two birds circling my Martin house. My eyes not being what they used to be I ran for my binoculars and out the back door I went, only to have my excitement squashed as I realized they were Tree Swallows. The same thing happened to me last year. They never attempted to build a nest in my Martin house last year, just investigated and then left as the season progressed. I have several Bluebird houses in my yard and also some other houses with various size entrance holes, do I need to do anything else to discourage the Tree Swallows? I have yet to see an actual live Purple Martin, I will probably faint dead away the first time I see one.
