HOW TO REPORT A ROOST

To report a roost, first determine if the roost has been located already using this website. Many roosts in North America were located by radar and do not have precise coordinates. If you locate a roost approximately 20 miles or less from "radar located" roost, consider the possibility of them being the same roost. If you are near a national or state/province border, check the neighboring region page as well. If you questions or comments, please let us know by using the contact webmaster form.

If you are sure that you have found a roost that has not been located/reported yet, please submit a new roost report here.

Also, we are looking for a roost location near Uvalde, west of San Antonio, for a BBC film crew - anything within a few hours of that area might work.

I am hoping to confirm the local martin roost this season. Got some good leads on it this year.

We don't often get to enjoy a roost here - some years we get one, but more often they just head on south - maybe to Valley roosts. We'll post a notice if we do get a roost, though.

Drove by the staging area about 4pm today (6/17/13) and saw some Martins on the wires already and a few skimming the pond.
Update 6/19/13: Stafford roost was visible today on morning weather radar. Willowbrook roost has appeared on radar for the past several days.

I was there till 9:30 pm Friday 21JUN2013. I saw them on the power line wires
but they did not go to the oak trees lining the driveway in front of the Room Store.
I saw birds on one tree at the entrance of this driveway. They were small to
be Purple Martins. They look like they were Tree Swallows.

There is a new store Main Event and that parking lot was full.

The 2013 Purple Martin roost is in full swing. I was there for a couple of hours and watched
Them from the pond to the oak trees that line the driveway to the Rack Room Shoe store.

This is exactly the same location for the past two years. The parking lot on the east side of these
Trees are full with vehicles for there is a new entertainment place “Main Event”. The two times
I’ve been there, the parking lot is always full.

Thanks BumBee. The Martins are favoring the Stein Mart side of that double row of trees anyway and the parking lot on that side is mostly empty at that time of day.
