- Martin Colony History: Taking care of 11 active public colonies and trying to start two more in northwestern PA. Also attempting to restart another one in southwestern PA, in Collier Township's Hilltop Park. In 2017, not sure what happened but the ASY male returned and then a couple of weeks later he was gone. It could have been weather related. No other birds showed up. I had a starling nesting at the Public site that I had trouble getting rid of.
In 2018, we fledged 629 martins at all of the sites.
Congratulation's Stephen,
Hope you have a great year!

Congratulations, Stephen, on your first of many arrivals. Overall, Texas migration has been typical for first half of Feb. A big boost in reports-post January, but overall, not that many martins.
The month ahead should bring thousands of arrivals--substantially picking up numbers where a few already are, and bringing first arrival groups to hundreds of more folks.
Wishing you the best for your 100 pair target!!!

Congrats Stephen!
That is exciting news!
That is exciting news!
Thanks Louise for getting me back on.
Its great hear birds back in surrounding areas. RR, Red Rock, even up north in Arlington. The one's at my site have not returned yet.
I sure hope nothing amiss with this.
We got em back in Texas so its strange but not odd at this present date. This cold front won't help them either but it looks like it lasts only about 2 days.
Congrats and am thankful to God for everyone that have birds trickling back in already!

Nice to hear of the arrivals. Just keep em south until the temps rise. I love martins but not when it is 5 degrees outside.
Mite control, heat venting, predator protection and additional feeding during bad weather add up to success.
