You know, you folks down south with housing/set-up's like this make it REALLY tough on those of us living up north.
I mean, other than full housing, why would any self-respecting PM fly past such a goregous offering. Beautiful set-up

Hi Jean,
That is a nice and neat set up. I' m sure the Martins can't resist a beautiful place like yours as they fly over.
Aren't those Gemini Racks? I plan on getting one next year, already started saving. Are those Solor Predator Guards you have reaching above both you racks? I have 1 Solor P-Gaurd facing 4 ways, thinking of installing another. Do you like them and do you think they are effective??

Thanks, y'all! And yes, James, they are Gemini racks. Bert says they are built well, sturdy, and will last forever. We repositioned them a little last year and reinstalled them. Here is a picture taken during reinstallation.
About the solar predator lights, we have not had a problem with owls since installing them more than 6 years ago. But that might be due to the surrounding area neighborhood developments causing fewer owls in our area. It is hard to say for sure.

Hi Jean, Congratulations on your first arrivals! I noticed you have Troyer horizontal gourds. Do you vent them? I live close to you in Rosenberg, Texas. I have 12 Troyer vertical gourds and added 12 horizontal this season and I am fretting over to vent or not to vent. Thanks and good luck this season. Debi

Hi Debi, re the venting, we vented our Troyer gourds over the 2014-2015 winter. Now I can't remember whose post we looked up to see how to do it, but ordered 90 degree elbows on line, threaded on one end. My husband drilled holes in the gourds and I screwed/glued them all in. It can't hurt to vent, especially in the killer heat we have here in Central TX near Blanco and Canyon Lake.Debi wrote:Hi Jean, Congratulations on your first arrivals!
