Had the opportunity to visit the Nimisila Reservoir on Saturday evening Aug 22nd and it had a lot of birds, I guessed 10,000 + and my wife thinks that guess is way to low....A lot of birds for sure if you have a small trolling motor on your boat you can get out there real well and close in a kayak or canoe would do the trick as well....Lots of folks at the reservoir with kayaks and canoe's

- Martin Colony History: In 2020, 60 pair with 285 fledged youngsters. 83 total cavities available, 58 Troyer Horizontal gourds and 4 modified deep trio metal house units, 1 fallout shelter, owl cages around all units. 200,000 is hugemongous. That would be about 1/5th of all migratory martins that reach Causeway Bridge over Lake Pontchartrain down south.
Mite control, heat venting, predator protection and additional feeding during bad weather add up to success.
