- Bird Banding Laboratory (1-800-327-BAND)
- Bird banding is one of the most useful tools in the modern study of wild birds. Wild birds are captured and marked with a uniquely numbered band or ring placed on the leg. The bander records where and when each bird is banded, how old it is, what sex it is, and any other information and sends those data to the Bird Banding Laboratory. Information from bands subsequently found and reported to the Bird Banding Laboratory provides data on the distribution and movements of species, their relative numbers, annual production, life-span and causes of death. Such information increases our knowledge and understanding of birds and their habits and assists us in their management and conservation.

- Hawk Mountain Sanctuary
- Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is a 2,400-acre natural area straddling the Kittatinny Ridge in eastern Pennsylvania. Established in 1934, it was the world's first refuge for raptors. - The banding manual is the key reference book for banders. It describes the responsibilities of banders, the procedures to obtain permits and bands, and the methods of reporting banding and encounter information. The manual also describes the computer system on which the data from bandings and encounters are stored and how the banders and wildlife managers can obtain these data.
- The Life of Birds, Sir David Attenborough
- The series is the logical follow-on to the BBC's Private Life of Plants. Mike Salisbury, a veteran producer in the unit, was appointed executive producer. He met with Sir David to decide the number of progams and a basic structural outline. Sir David then wrote a proposal, outlining the program themes.
