- Now in our 6th year, we have an active colony of 32 PM\'s nesting in round hole, supergourds. We are in the Panhandle of Florida, our rack sits on the edge of a lake on the Hombre Golf Course. I also monitor a Bluebird Trail of 30 nest boxes, and will be designing a nestbox for resident red-belly woodpeckers this coming spring. - I have recently moved a super gourd cluster from an area that apparently had too many trees. The gourds were there for 3 years with not one Martin ever even landing to look.
I have moved the gourds to an area near my home that has a wide area located in the midst of a lot of large trees and are a minimum of 60-80 feet away. I have also strung a wire high above for them to rest on as I have observed others with wire locations that seems to be successful. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

- I built my first Troyer Martin House in 2000 and put it up in town. No luck. Moved to the country in 2001 and I finally got some birds last year (2004). I'm located 7 miles West of Flora in an area with lots of ponds. Looking forward to a large colony this year(2006). Would love to meet other purple martin landlords.
