Re: First male and female

I just came here on a whim - to see if there was anything new - never dreaming there would be someone saying they had purple martins already! I am so excited! Makes it feel like it won't be that long before we hear/see them again in Wisconsin......even tho it'll be probably 3 months. haha! Tell me, ...

Re: Hummingbird feeding into Fall info.

Thanks for this info, Dave. I was just asking yesterday about this to my facebook friends and had many different opinions. Some said to keep them out for awhile yet, some said take them down so you don't encourage them to stay. Now I know

Re: saw a few today!

Oh - I bet that was so fun to see.

How long do you have PMs in Texas? From what month to what month, typically?

Wow - how lucky was that for you to see them!! 6 or 7 months and we'll be watching the skies for their return. Thanks for the fun story.

Re: New member from Wisconsin

I've seen discussions here about this and from what I can tell - it's kinda a personal preference.

I do think the Amish let their's swing and they seem to have good luck so maybe that's the way to go? I know mine swing but that's the way they were supposed to be on the system I have.

Re: Is it time to put the CD away til spring?

All right, thanks! That's good to know. It won't hurt to keep playing it then - if there are a few still coming south from Canada or the north.

Is it time to put the CD away til spring?

I am thinking most, if not all, of the PMs from Canada and the north are already down past here (southern WI) so there's not need to keep playing it now? Advice, please and thank you.

Welcome to the group, Jeremy. There are a lot of very knowledgeable purple martin landlords here who can help you out with some really good advice. They've given me tons of good advice. Good luck!

Holy moly, Cathy and Dick! That is amazing! I am so happy for you. I only had visitors so I'm green with envy. Thanks for sharing and thanks for all your do for the PMs. You are rewarded with such a great year end report! And, BTW, 73 is NOT old! You still have lots of good years left yet.

Re: A Promising Start

Wow - over 300 is super impressive! I don't have many but even one pair can be annoying and a problem to get rid of. Maybe the word has gotten out that you are a force to be reckoned with and they are all going to stay away from now on. :)

I guess it's easier for people like myself who still haven't gotten a colony started - otherwise I would be depressed, too.
