Re: I need help to resize photos

Caroline, They are amazing. You fear the worst, yet the martins do ok. Id be worried with the heavy equipment, but have seen pictures of martin housing at a big construction site. Glad your birds are good, like to see the pictures!! My neighbor has a small 3 cavity house, last year they put a bouncy...

Re: Another killing May in PA

Sorry Doug,
Those migrants especially the young ones face a tough time, if they don't catch on can spell doom. Sounds like most of your colony would have been in jeopardy without the added food. Wish the others would have caught on.
Hope the weather improves for you and your birds.

Re: Training Martin's to take food...how?

As they say, just takes that first one. Made another June bug trap, they really keyed on the spiraling flying motion of those bugs.
Yeah the winter lesson and the info here inspired the attempt. Just have to keep it up and train train train.

Re: Training Martin's to take food...how?

I'll stick them in the freezer, last night I used a 5 gallon bucket, created a cardboard cone and cut the bottom off for a funnel and lined that with tin foil then put a light in it to a...

Re: Too late?

Welcome!!! Well sounds like what you did worked. No its not too late, lots and lots of martins around. What you described is a fantastic sign. Take a look at the scout reports for your area, give you an idea of when to open. Early Feb is good for Central Texas. Down here in corpus I keep the houses ...

Re: Seeking Starlings

well you got my attention with that title! Hope you get some assistance, some folks can get them by the boat load. You have a good cause! The starlings we've got are kept at bay by restrictive openings and sparrows die from ingesting bbs.

Re: Should I open other style of gourds?

you could open a few of the others sure, if you have lots of sparrows just have to watch close. Opening something different may give them an option especially if they are on an upper level.
Hope they show in force for you!

Re: Bouncing back in Texas

No eggs here still, although they have seemed to have really started building nests. We got 5.5 inches of rain in two days sort of jump started things but they are way behind...and yep i think it was the cold. Going to be a tough summer, dodging hurricanes...little food. Tomorrow I suspect ill find ...

So after nest checks, ill raise it up to its stop and in the afternoon it will have turned with the wind. If it would turn an...
